MCP servers for Warp
Local RemoteWarp's agent mode calls MCP servers you add under Settings → AI → Manage MCP servers, as a command for local servers or a URL for hosted ones.
How to add an MCP server to Warp
- Open Settings → AI → Manage MCP servers and click + Add.
- Paste an mcpServers JSON block, or enter the command (local) or URL (hosted) directly.
- Start the server from the list; its tools show up in the agent's tool picker.

"mcpServers": {
"filesystem": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem", "/Users/you/projects"]
}
}
}
The example uses the reference filesystem server. Every listing on mcp.site shows its own command, args and environment variables, usually with a ready-made snippet for Warp.
Config formats change between releases. If a step looks different in your version, the Warp documentation ↗ is the source of truth.
