MCP servers for Raycast
LocalRaycast AI discovers MCP servers you install from its registry or add by hand, then calls them from AI Chat and commands.
How to add an MCP server to Raycast
- Open Raycast and search for "Install Server" (MCP Registry) or "Manage MCP Servers".
- Pick a server from the registry, or choose Add Custom and paste an mcpServers JSON block.
- Mention the server with @ in AI Chat to use its tools.
{
"mcpServers": {
"filesystem": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem", "/Users/you/projects"]
}
}
}
The example uses the reference filesystem server. Every listing on mcp.site shows its own command, args and environment variables, usually with a ready-made snippet for Raycast.
Hosted servers. Raycast runs local stdio servers from the registry and custom entries; hosted servers need a stdio bridge such as mcp-remote.
Config formats change between releases. If a step looks different in your version, the Raycast documentation ↗ is the source of truth.
