MCP servers for Cline
Local RemoteCline, the open-source coding agent for VS Code, has an MCP Servers panel with a marketplace, plus a JSON file for custom servers.
How to add an MCP server to Cline
- Open Cline → the MCP Servers icon → Installed → Configure MCP Servers.
- Add the server under "mcpServers": command and args for a local server, url for a hosted one.
- Toggle the server on in the panel; its tools appear underneath.
- Cline asks for approval the first time it uses a tool unless you set auto-approve per tool.

The example uses the reference filesystem server. Every listing on mcp.site shows its own command, args and environment variables, usually with a ready-made snippet for Cline.
The marketplace tab installs popular servers with one click and writes the same config for you.
