01What we collect

Browsing mcp.site requires no account. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and capacity planning; they are rotated and not used for advertising.

If you submit a server we store the listing details you provide, including your contact email, so we can review the submission and reach you about it. If you email us, we keep the correspondence.

02Traffic measurement

We count page views on our own server so we know which listings are useful. For each visit we record the page, the country your IP resolves to, the referring site, and whether you are on desktop or mobile.

This is cookieless and identifier-free. Instead of storing your IP address, we combine it with a secret that is regenerated every day and keep only the resulting hash, which lets us count a visitor once per day and cannot be reversed to an IP or linked across days. Country is resolved on our own server against a local copy of the DB-IP Lite database, so no geolocation service ever sees your address.

03Google Analytics

We also use Google Analytics 4, loaded from googletagmanager.com, to understand how the site is used: which pages and listings are viewed, what people search for, which install snippets get copied, and clicks out to a server's repository or website. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to recognise a returning browser, and processes your IP address and device information on Google's servers under Google's privacy policy. We do not send names, email addresses, or anything you type into forms to Google.

Google Analytics only runs with your permission where the law requires it: visitors in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a small cookie banner, and nothing from Google is loaded until they choose “Accept”. Elsewhere it runs by default. In both cases you can change your mind at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer, which also deletes the Google cookies, and we treat the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a “no”. The Google Analytics opt-out add-on works as well; every part of mcp.site works without analytics.

Your answer is kept for 180 days in a first-party mcp_consent cookie that stores nothing but the choice itself.

04What we don't do

We do not sell personal data, run advertising trackers, or build behavioral profiles. Apart from the Google Analytics cookies described above (set only after you allow them) and the mcp_consent cookie that remembers your answer, the only browser storage we use is a local-storage key that remembers your light/dark theme preference — it never leaves your browser.

05Third-party services

All fonts and assets are served from our own domain — no third-party CDNs or font services see your visits. The one third-party script we load is Google Analytics, described above. Listing links (GitHub, hosted endpoints) take you to third-party sites governed by their own policies.

06Retention

Published listing data is retained while the listing is live. Rejected submissions and their contact details are deleted within 90 days. Access logs are kept for up to 30 days, and the aggregate page-view records described above for up to 12 months.

07Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you — including removing your contact email from a listing — by emailing privacy@mcp.site. We answer within 30 days.

08Changes

If this policy changes materially we will note it here with a new "last updated" date.
