Open Archives

Overview

Open Archives is an MCP server that connects AI assistants to Dutch genealogical records and historical page transcriptions. Instead of switching between applications, you can query Open Archives directly through your AI client using callable tools, making genealogical research and historical document work more efficient within your workflow.

The server runs as a remote endpoint at https://mcp.openarchieven.nl/ with no local installation required. Version v1.1.1 is the latest release, and the source code is available at coret/openarchieven-mcp-server on GitHub. Authentication is not required to use the service.

Open Archives is listed in the Development category on mcp.site and works with any MCP client including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and Zed. If you maintain this server, you can claim this listing to verify ownership and keep information up to date.
