Overview

Whois Mcp Server connects to AI assistants to resolve domain registration details, check availability, retrieve DNS records, and look up IP and ASN information through RDAP and DNS-over-HTTPS protocols. It exposes these capabilities as tools that Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients can invoke directly.

The server runs locally on your machine via the npm package @cyanheads/whois-mcp-server with no authentication required. Install it with npx -y @cyanheads/whois-mcp-server and it connects over stdio. Version v0.1.4 is available under the Apache-2.0 license; the full source is hosted at cyanheads/whois-mcp-server on GitHub.
