Whatsapp is a Model Context Protocol server that lets you send WhatsApp messages directly from Cursor, Claude Code, and other MCP-compatible AI assistants. Any AI assistant connected via MCP can call Whatsapp's tools to compose and send messages, deciding when to use them based on conversation context or task requirements.

The server runs locally on your machine via the npm package @gaviwhatsapp/mcp, which communicates with your AI assistant over stdio. You'll need to provide YOUR_API_KEY through environment variables to authenticate with the WhatsApp service.
