Overview

Vim Mcp is a Model Context Protocol server that connects Claude Code and other AI assistants to Vim and Neovim. It lets your AI work directly with your editor by querying editor state, executing commands, searching help documentation, and recording macros—giving your AI assistant real-time awareness of what's happening in your editor.

The server runs locally on your machine as an npm package. Install it with npx -y vim-mcp and you're ready to go—no authentication or configuration required. Version v0.1.2 is available now, with full source code at iggredible/vim-mcp on GitHub.
