UniProt MCP

Overview

UniProt MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that provides read-only access to UniProtKB, enabling MCP-compatible AI assistants to query protein entries, sequences, features, Gene Ontology data, taxonomy information, and ID mapping directly within conversations and agent workflows.

The server runs locally as a Python package via uvx uniprot-mcp, communicating over stdio on your machine. No authentication or external credentials are needed—it works immediately after installation. The latest release is v0.1.0.
