SmartCLI — drive terminal TUIs

Overview

SmartCLI is a Model Context Protocol server that lets AI agents control terminal user interfaces like vim, htop, and lazygit. It sends keystrokes, waits for screen state changes, and reads the rendered cell grid, enabling agents to interact with full-featured CLI applications without manual intervention.

The server runs locally as a Python package installed via uvx smartcli-toolkit, speaking MCP over stdio. No authentication or credentials are needed—it works immediately after installation. Version v0.2.3 is available under the MIT license, with source code at dwgx/SmartCLI on GitHub.
