Overview

Slack is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: MCP server for Slack — read/write messages, manage threads, and react to messages. In practice that means any MCP-compatible AI assistant can call Slack's tools directly — the model decides when to use them in a conversation or agent run.

It runs locally: the npm package slack-workspace-mcp-server speaks MCP over stdio on your machine. Configuration happens through environment variables — you'll need SLACK_BOT_TOKEN. The current release is v0.0.7, published under the MIT license, with source at pulsemcp/mcp-servers on GitHub, where it has earned 80 stars.
