Overview

Search Papers is an MCP server that lets you query arXiv papers directly from your AI assistant. Instead of switching between apps, Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client can call Search Papers as a native tool to find and retrieve academic papers.

The server runs locally on your machine via the npm package search-papers, installed with npx -y search-papers. It communicates with your client over stdio and requires no authentication or external credentials to get started. The latest release is v0.1.1, with full source code available at Saidiibrahim/search-papers on GitHub.

Search Papers appears in the AI & Agents category on mcp.site and works with MCP clients including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and Zed.
