Overview

Scopus is a Model Context Protocol server that brings Elsevier's Scopus research platform into your AI workflows. Search abstracts, explore author information, and export citations directly through Scopus's integrated tools — your MCP-compatible assistant will call them automatically when relevant to your research or writing tasks.

The server runs locally as a Python package installed via uvx scopus-mcp-server. It communicates with your AI client over stdio and requires a SCOPUS_API_KEY environment variable to authenticate with Elsevier's API. Version 1.0.0 is available now under the MIT license, with full source code at SMABoundless/scopus-mcp-server on GitHub.
