Ratebook

Overview

Ratebook is an open Model Context Protocol server that brings US electricity tariff data to AI assistants. It lets you look up real utility rates, estimate bills, and determine optimal times to charge electric vehicles—all through natural conversation with any MCP-compatible AI. The server exposes these capabilities as tools that Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other clients can call directly when they're useful.

Ratebook runs locally on your machine via the Python package ratebook-mcp, installed with uvx ratebook-mcp. It communicates over stdio and requires no credentials to operate. The latest release is v0.1.0, published under the Apache-2.0 license with source code available at cbetz/ratebook on GitHub.
