Overview

Qiskit IBM Runtime MCP Server bridges IBM Quantum computing services into your AI workflow through the Model Context Protocol. It lets Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients access Qiskit IBM Runtime as native tools, eliminating manual copy-paste between applications.

The server runs locally as a Python package installed via uvx qiskit-ibm-runtime-mcp-server and communicates with MCP clients over stdio. You'll need to provide your IBM quantum credentials using the QISKIT_IBM_TOKEN environment variable for authentication. Version v0.6.1 is available now under the Apache-2.0 license, with source code and documentation at Qiskit/mcp-servers on GitHub.
