Overview

Powerbi is an MCP server that integrates Power BI API functionality directly into your AI assistant. It exposes Power BI capabilities as tools that Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients can invoke on your behalf.

The server runs locally on your machine using the powerbi-mcp-server Python package, installed via uvx powerbi-mcp-server. You'll need to provide a POWERBI_API_KEY through environment variables to authenticate with Power BI. The current release is v0.1.0, with full source code available at asklokesh/powerbi-mcp-server on GitHub.
