Overview

Orcid is an MCP server that lets you search ORCID researcher profiles, retrieve works, and export citations. It integrates directly with AI assistants as a set of tools they can call on your behalf.

The server runs locally as the Python package orcid-mcp-server, installed via uvx orcid-mcp-server. It communicates over stdio and requires ORCID_CLIENT_ID and ORCID_CLIENT_SECRET environment variables for authentication. Version 1.0.0 is available now under the MIT license, with source code at SMABoundless/orcid-mcp-server on GitHub.
