Openzim Mcp

Overview

Openzim Mcp is a Model Context Protocol server that brings offline access to ZIM knowledge archives directly into your AI assistant. It connects to Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Stack Exchange, and Kiwix repositories, letting Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients query local knowledge bases without internet dependency.

The server runs locally on your machine via the Python package openzim-mcp, installed with uvx openzim-mcp. It requires no credentials or external services—just run it and it exposes archive search and retrieval as tools your AI model can invoke. Version v3.2.3 is available now under the MIT license, with full source code at cameronrye/openzim-mcp on GitHub.
