Open Food Facts

Overview

Open Food Facts is an MCP server that lets you search and contribute to the Open Food Facts database directly from your AI assistant. Instead of switching between apps, Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client can query food product data and submit contributions as callable tools.

The server runs locally via the npm package openfoodfacts-mcp, which communicates over stdio. You'll need to set the OFF_USER_AGENT and MCP_TRANSPORT environment variables, and provide an API key for authentication. Version v2.6.0 is available under the MIT license, with full source code at domdomegg/openfoodfacts-mcp on GitHub.
