mneme

Overview

mneme is a Model Context Protocol server that provides vault-native, accountable memory for Claude Code and MCP clients. It treats markdown as ground truth, allowing any MCP-compatible AI assistant to call mneme's tools directly during conversations or agent runs. The model decides when and how to use memory capabilities in real time.

The server runs locally on your machine via the npm package mneme-mcp-server, communicating over stdio. No credentials or external services are required — it works out of the box. The latest release is v3.5.0, published under the Apache-2.0 license with source code available at TheGoatPsy/mneme on GitHub.
