License Compliance

Overview

License Compliance is a Model Context Protocol server that scans npm dependencies for license compliance issues and detects GPL contamination. Any MCP-compatible AI assistant can invoke its tools directly within conversations and agent workflows, letting the model decide when license checks are needed.

The server runs locally on your machine via npx -y license-compliance-mcp with no authentication required. It communicates over stdio and works out of the box. The latest release is v1.0.2, published under the MIT license with source code available at bighippoman/license-compliance-mcp on GitHub.
