Overview

Invigil is a Model Context Protocol server that evaluates repository legibility for both newcomers and AI agents. While linters check code quality, Invigil examines whether your entire repository is structured and documented in ways that make it understandable and navigable. It integrates directly into AI assistants as tools they can invoke to analyze your codebase.

The server runs locally on your machine via the uvx invigil command, requiring no authentication or external credentials. It communicates over stdio as a standard Python package. The latest release is v1.7.1 under the Apache-2.0 license, with source code available at invigil/invigil on GitHub.
