Google Maps Places

Overview

Google Maps Places is an MCP server that enables AI systems to search for places and retrieve business information directly from the Google Maps Places API. By exposing Maps functionality as tools, it lets your AI assistant look up locations, details, and services on demand without leaving the conversation.

The server runs locally via the npm package google-maps-places-mcp, communicating over stdio. You'll need to configure three environment variables: GOOGLE_ACCESS_TOKEN, MCP_TRANSPORT, and GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID. Install it with npx -y google-maps-places-mcp. The latest release is v1.1.2, maintained at domdomegg/google-maps-places-mcp on GitHub.
