Gmail is a Model Context Protocol server that lets AI systems read, send, archive, and manage emails directly through your Gmail account. It works as a tool layer between Claude and other AI assistants, exposing Gmail's core functions so the model can handle email tasks on your behalf.

The server runs locally via the npm package gmail-mcp, communicating over stdio with your machine. You'll need to provide GOOGLE_ACCESS_TOKEN, MCP_TRANSPORT, and GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID as environment variables to authenticate. The latest release is v2.4.0, maintained at domdomegg/gmail-mcp on GitHub.
