Overview

GitHub is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: Connect AI assistants to GitHub - manage repos, issues, PRs, and workflows through natural language. As an MCP server it plugs straight into AI assistants, exposing its functionality as tools the model can invoke on your behalf.

You can run GitHub two ways: connect to the hosted endpoint at https://api.githubcopilot.com/mcp/ with no local install, or run it on your own machine via the Docker image ghcr.io/github/github-mcp-server:2.0.3.
