Overview

GitHits is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: Search public open-source code, documentation, metadata, vulnerabilities, changelogs, and examples. As an MCP server it plugs straight into AI assistants, exposing its functionality as tools the model can invoke on your behalf.

You can run GitHits two ways: connect to the hosted endpoint at https://mcp.githits.com with no local install, or run it on your own machine via the npm package githits. The current release is v0.11.2, published under the Apache-2.0 license, with source at githits-com/githits-cli on GitHub, where it has earned 88 stars.
