Gatewerk

Overview

Gatewerk is an open-source review layer for AI agents that puts human decision-making at the center of agent work. Any MCP-compatible AI assistant can call Gatewerk's tools directly, and the model decides when to invoke them during conversations or agent runs. This human-in-the-loop approach ensures that critical decisions remain under human control.

Gatewerk runs locally via the npm package @gatewerk/mcp, which communicates over stdio on your machine. Installation is simple with npx -y @gatewerk/mcp, and you'll need to provide a GATEWERK_API_KEY environment variable for authentication. Version v1.1.4 is available under the AGPL-3.0 license, with full source code at gatewerk/gatewerk on GitHub.
