Overview

Footnote is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: Every number in an AI answer traces back to the rows that produced it. Because it speaks the Model Context Protocol, AI assistants can use Footnote as a set of callable tools instead of you copy-pasting between apps.

It runs locally: the npm package @brick-byte/footnote speaks MCP over stdio on your machine. The current release is v0.1.1, published under the MIT license, with source at brick-byte/footnote on GitHub.
