Overview

Files is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server: Sandboxed local filesystem: read, search, edit, copy, archive, and safely manage files. As an MCP server it plugs straight into AI assistants, exposing its functionality as tools the model can invoke on your behalf.

It runs locally: the npm package @abhishekmcp/files speaks MCP over stdio on your machine. Configuration happens through environment variables — you'll need FS_ROOTS. The current release is v0.2.0, published under the MIT license, with source at Abhishekkumar2021/mcp-suite on GitHub.
