doiget

Overview

doiget is a Model Context Protocol server that fetches academic papers as local PDFs with metadata, using DOIs and arXiv IDs as input. It prioritizes Open Access sources via public APIs, making research papers accessible programmatically. Any MCP-compatible AI assistant can invoke doiget's tools directly within conversations or agent workflows.

The server runs locally through the doiget-cli package, which communicates over stdio without requiring authentication or external credentials. Installation is a single command: npx -y doiget-cli. The current release v0.8.12 is published under the MIT license with source code available at QAtlasHub/doiget on GitHub.
