Overview

CLIO Web is a Model Context Protocol server that provides provider-fixed web search alongside transparent URL, DOI, and document fetching. MCP-compatible AI assistants can invoke its tools directly, letting models decide when to search and retrieve content during conversation or agent execution.

The server runs locally via the Python package clio-kit, installed with uvx clio-kit and communicating over stdio. No authentication is needed—it works immediately after installation. Version v2.1.0 is available under the BSD-3-Clause license with source code at iowarp/clio-kit on GitHub, where the project has 26 stars.
