About Design MCP servers
Design servers bridge the gap between a model that can describe an interface and the tools where it gets built. Figma and Canva servers let an agent read layers, styles and components, export assets and sometimes create frames; image generation servers produce illustrations, icons and mockups; others handle colour, typography, SVG manipulation and screenshot comparison.
Reading a design file is usually safe; generating or modifying one costs credits or overwrites work, so check what each tool does before enabling write access. For design-to-code workflows, pair a design server with a development server so the agent can read the Figma frame and write the component in the same session.
